Frequently Asked Questions
Is my Donation tax deductible?
Donations to Quimper Parks & Trees Foundation are tax deductible to the extent permitted by IRS tax code. Jefferson Community Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 in the State of Washington not for profit organization and registered with the IRS with Employer Identification Number 84-1682682.
Isn’t it the responsibility of the City of Port Townsend, Jefferson County and the State of Washington Parks to plant and manage trees in their parks and open spaces?
Both the City of Port Townsend and Jefferson County play incredibly important roles in creating and managing public and recreational spaces and facilities for residents and visitors. Port Townsend manages 26 parks covering 189.2 acres and an additional 120 acres of open space and 31 miles of trails. Jefferson County operates 22 parks on 1,100 acres including 4 campgrounds, and 14 miles of trails. The State of Washington manages 434 acre Fort Worden state park and 70 acre Anderson Lake state park. QPTF is committed to collaborating with these parks managers to augment their significant responsibilities for these beautiful and important natural and recreational assets on the Quimper Peninsula.
How is QPTF different from existing organizations like the Jefferson Land Trust, Salmon Coalition and Northwest Watershed Institute who also work to preserve, protect and expand tree canopy?
These organizations provide invaluable services across the Quimper Peninsula and beyond. They all primarily work in large spaces often outside of population centers. QPTF is focused on parks, public spaces and communities where people live and work and where expanding tree canopy is desirable. There may be opportunities to collaborate with these organizations and others where our missions overlap and QPTF looks forward to exploring opportunities with them.
